Educational Institution Landing Page

A school website that leads students and parents straight to admissions

A creative, admissions-first landing page for an educational institution. It serves prospective students and their parents, and points every section towards an enquiry or a campus visit. I shaped the page structure, outlined the copy and designed it for desktop and mobile.

01The problem

What needed solving

Institution websites try to serve everyone at once, so the admissions path gets buried under news, notices and menus. Students and parents arrive with different questions about courses, fees, campus life and outcomes, and leave when they can’t see the next step.

Who it’s for

  • Prospective students

To find a programme that fits their interests and see what life on campus is like.

  • Parents and guardians

Clear answers on fees, safety, support and outcomes before they agree to apply.

  • Admissions team

Enquiries that arrive with enough detail to follow up properly.

02The main flow

From first visit to enquiry

The moment in blue is the one the whole design is built around.
  1. 01

    Arrives from search

  2. 02

    Picks a programme

  3. 03

    Checks fees and intake dates

  4. 04

    Sends an admissions enquiry

  5. 05

    Books a campus visit

04Key decisions

Choices that shaped it

What I considered, what I chose, and why.

Decision 01

A programme finder before the prospectus

A long course list overwhelms a student who doesn’t yet know the official programme names. They think in interests, not catalogue titles.

Considered

A full A–Z course list with a downloadable prospectus.

Chosen

A short finder by interest and level that narrows to a few course cards. Each card opens the enquiry form with the programme already filled in.

Why it works

It meets students where they start, and the prefilled programme saves the admissions team a round of questions.

Decision 02

A section written for parents

Parents often make or fund the decision, but their questions about fees, safety and outcomes were scattered across pages.

Considered

Fold parent questions into a general FAQ at the bottom of the page.

Chosen

A dedicated band addressed to parents, with fees, support and safety in plain words and its own enquiry action.

Why it works

Naming the reader makes the section easy to find when a student shares the link. It makes the page longer, which I accepted because every band has its own way to enquire.

Decision 03

Expression in content, not in controls

The brief called for a creative page, but playful layouts can hide where to click.

Considered

Scroll-driven layouts with hidden menus and unusual navigation.

Chosen

Character comes from type, colour blocks and campus photography, while the header, buttons and forms stay fixed and familiar.

Why it works

The institution feels distinct, and applicants never have to learn the interface before they can act.

05What’s inside

Key features

Programme finder

Narrows courses by interest and level instead of listing everything at once.

Intake dates up front

The next intake and key deadlines sit in the hero, so urgency is clear without pressure.

Parents’ section

Fees, safety and support explained in plain words for the people who often decide.

Campus visit booking

Families can pick a visit slot from the same page they read about the campus.

Enquiry with context

The form carries the chosen programme, so the team can reply with the right details.

06Outcome

What was delivered

Delivered

  • Section-by-section page structure and copy outline
  • High-fidelity desktop and mobile designs for the landing page
  • Programme finder and enquiry form with their states
  • A small set of reusable sections, cards and form fields
  • Annotated hand-off for development

What I learned

  1. 01

Writing the page as a list of real questions first made most layout decisions easy.

  2. 02

On an institution site, creativity works best in the content, not in the controls.
